Currently, the Judicial Branch consists of eleven (11) judicial departments and thirty and five (35) judicial districts, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of the National District. It includes the Judicial District of the National District.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of the Santo Domingo Province. It includes the Judicial Districts of Santo Domingo and Monte Plata.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of Santiago. It includes the Judicial Districts of Santiago and Valverde.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of La Vega. It includes the Judicial Districts of La Vega, Espaillat, Constanza, S\u00e1nchez Ram\u00edrez and Monse\u00f1or Nouel.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of San Francisco de Macor\u00eds. It includes the Judicial Districts of Duarte, Hermanas Mirabal, Mar\u00eda Trinidad S\u00e1nchez and Saman\u00e1.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of San Pedro de Macor\u00eds. It includes the Judicial Districts of San Pedro de Macor\u00eds, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, La Romana and La Altagracia.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of San Crist\u00f3bal. It includes the Judicial Districts of San Crist\u00f3bal, Villa Altagracia, Peravia, Azua and San Jos\u00e9 de Ocoa.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Barahona Judicial Department. It includes the Judicial Districts of Barahona, Bahoruco, Independencia and Pedernales.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of San Juan de la Maguana. It includes the Judicial Districts of San Juan de la Maguana, Las Matas de Farf\u00e1n and El\u00edas Pi\u00f1a.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of Montecristi. It includes the Judicial Districts of Montecristi, Dajab\u00f3n and Santiago Rodr\u00edguez.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Judicial Department of Puerto Plata. Its function is to administer justice, free of charge, to decide on conflicts between natural or legal persons, in private or public law, in all types of processes, judging and enforcing what is judged. Its exercise corresponds to the courts and tribunals determined by law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The Judicial Branch enjoys functional, administrative and budgetary autonomy granted by the Constitution and by Law No. 46-97, of February 18, 1997, modified by Law No. 194-04, of July 28, 2004.
