Nieuw Statendam
Nieuw Statendam is the kind of cruise ship that deserves a description by Holland America itself: Flowing lines and expansive spaces make Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam a modern beauty. Its design, the second for the Pinnacle-class cruise line, is inspired by the graceful curves of musical instruments.
Emerging from the tranquility of their well-appointed suites or staterooms, guests will have an array of innovative dining and entertainment options, from Rudi’s Sel de Mer to Nami Sushi, Rolling Stone Rock Room, B.B. King’s Blues Club and the spectacular two-level World Stage.

A TRUE MUSIC LOVER’S CRUISE SHIP
Music is also the main theme of most of the original art pieces that can be found throughout the different roofs of the Nieuw Statendam. In addition to pieces of art valued at 4 million dollars from young artists. I recommend that you ask at reception for the printed guide to the art route on board.
On board you WILL feel something that is missing from some of the new cruise ships being built. You will feel the pleasure of relaxed navigation, of seeing the sea from almost anywhere, of that marine flavor that makes boat trips unique. Of course, surrounded by all the comforts of the 21st century.

The Lido’s main pool on deck nine has a retractable glass roof so the pool, loungers and Jacuzzis can be used whatever the weather. This area also has a big screen where movies are shown every night at 10 pm (don’t forget to ask for your popcorn).
You will also find a secondary pool overlooking the sea with its own bar at the stern of the boat and that will allow you to enjoy the wake left by the boat while you bathe. This is what passengers want when traveling to exotic destinations such as Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
ONBOARD FITNESS FACILITIES
If you’re looking to keep fit or keep up with your fitness routine, the Nieuw Statendam has a great gym, which you can use for free or sign up for paid exercise classes like yoga. There are also free morning stretching sessions for early-rising cruisers. And for a special treat, try The Greenhouse Spa & Salon, which offers not only massages and facials, but also leg waxing and haircuts for those who didn’t have time before leaving.
If what you prefer is to relax and disconnect, you will find good treatments at The Greenhouse Spa & Salon (on port days you will find the best offers). In addition The thermal suite is particularly beautiful. It has a large hydrotherapy pool with hot mineral water. It has heated ceramic beds, steam rooms and a sauna.

Rolling Stone Rock Room is the novelty of Holland America Line, and the Nieuw Statendam is the first ship to have this live music club sponsored by the prestigious Rolling Stone Magazine.
You may then want to enjoy Billboard Onboard to hear two pianists playing their grand pianos and singing hits from different decades. Just when this is over, the show begins in another part of the ship thanks to a measured and intelligent schedule of shows. When a group of musicians takes a break, another will begin on another stage.
GREAT ROOM SELECTION
When choosing our cabin on board we will have the typical options ranging from luxurious suites, cabins with balcony, cabins with windows or ocean view, interior cabins and the highly demanded cabins for solo cruise passengers.
All have the Queen-size Dream Mariner bed with Euro-Top mattress, although they can be separated and converted into two single beds. About 70 per cent of the cabins have balconies and these cabins most likely have a sofa, sometimes a sofa bed, plus a fridge with a minibar, a large flat screen TV with a good selection of free movies, news channels and sports, and a good-sized bathroom with a well-used glass-enclosed shower.
Highly recommended are the cabins with window or ocean view, especially for families. They can accommodate up to four people (the sofa converts into a single bed with a pull-out bunk). There are also Family Ocean View cabins that have capacity for up to five passengers, and have 2 bathrooms.
There are four suite categories, starting at Vista and ascending to Signature, Neptune and Pinnacle, all with access to a private lounge and the all-new The Orange Club.
TOP CLASS RESTAURANTS
Tamarind, the oriental fusion restaurant, where its sophisticated selection of Asian dishes is particularly appealing, in Nieuw Statendam is a bit separate from the popular Nami Sushi restaurant. The novelty of the Tamarind is that you have the option of eating on an outdoor terrace enjoying not only the exceptional food but also the views and unique atmosphere.
