Puerto Plata schools can be found in its main district, San Felipe, and other beach towns of this North province. Here we find bilingual options O&M Hostos, and Alik; and a host of a dozen other public schools. In smaller beach towns like Sosua and Cabarete the bilingual options are far larger: Garden Kids, ISS ( International School of Sosua), Isla Academy, Children’s World, and Luis Hess (plus other public ones).

Garden Kids School offers all levels of education, from nursery (2 yrs old) through 12th grade. Each student is provided with rigorous standards, high academic and behavioral expectations, equity and a solid foundation. The International School of Sosua has been around for 30 years, is US accredited and has a large campus. It is the most expensive of all the bilingual schools in the North Coast, and has a great reputation. Hostos O&M School began its first steps in 2005 at its current address, in what is the new campus of the UNIVERSIDAD DOMINICANA O&M in this city of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Thus becoming the First Bilingual School to be part of a University Institution in this city.
The facilities offer various areas in a varied infrastructure that gives space to both offices, modern classrooms, library, laboratories, multipurpose rooms, sports area, among others, as well as all those typical of a complete center of higher studies.
The O&M Hostos school works with a single shift or teaching session: Morning, with a schedule from 7:40 AM to 2:30 PM distributed as follows:
- Elementary: 7:40AM – 12:00PM
- Basic: 7:40AM – 2:00PM
- Secondary: 7:40AM – 2:30PM
The levels taught are the following: Initial Education: Includes Kindergarten and Pre-elementary levels.
The Initial level is structured for a comprehensive education, whose goals and objectives seek the development of the qualities of our boys and girls. For us they constitute a very important group within the school, for which we dedicate special care and attention to them.
We work with children from 3 to 5 years old with an English language curriculum, which allows our students to become literate in that language.
Basic Education: Includes levels from First to Eighth grade.
Secondary Education: Includes the levels from first to fourth of the baccalaureate or Middle Education. The O&M HOSTOS SCHOOL, bases its teaching on the American curriculum, using texts and support material from one of the most prestigious American publishing houses such as Harcourt.
